Overview
The most well-known method of preserving vegetables or fruits is pickling them. It can provide families with a crucial source of food during cold winter periods, and not many side dishes can match the status of pickled vegetables.
Pickled vegetables and jams are embedded in Eastern European culinary culture and have become well-known symbols of the region's cuisine.
"Băcănie" is a micro-brand that brings these condiments straight from the hard-worked Romanian fields.

The Logo
I based my logo solution on key elements found in the client’s initial sketches: the "B" symbol and the scale. I used the "B" shape to draw the rest of the letters, creating a cursive and well-proportioned logotype. The logomark illustrates an old grocery store scale and resembles the logotype. The final "Băcănie" logo represents all that is special in traditional products, proposing also a contemporary approach in the industry.
Jar Labels
Traditionally, pickled goods are stored in reused jars with handwritten labels at home, and commercial products often lack representation of their traditional heritage. The client wanted to highlight the traditional aspect of pickling and bring a fresh perspective to the local food market.
My proposed solution was to change how the jar is perceived by the customer. I wanted to move from a typical labelling design to a more conceptual approach, emphasizing an eye-catching label with bold graphic elements. The message should be straightforward: "Băcănie" pickled vegetables and jams offer high-quality traditional products.
Compared to most locally marketed jars, the main information will be noticeable and easy to read. To ensure clarity, I provided ample space for the brand logo and typography to stand out. I also contrasted them with simplified doodled illustrations to represent each pickled vegetable or fruit.
The entire solution aims to deviate from the conventional representation of traditional food products and bring a bold design that makes these special products stand out from the crowd.
